Chris Mitchell is Director of The Marion E. Wade Center of Wheaton College, Illinois.

This is the first of four messages on C.S. Lewis, the only "Oxford Don" to appear on the cover of Time (Time Magazine Cover Sep. 8, 1947).

In this message Chris give an introduction to Lewis' life and Chris talks about the autobiography of Lewis, Surprised By Joy. In this case "joy" is a "technical term" and does not refer to Lewis' wife, named Joy.

Lewis' life and relationship with his wife can be seen in the movie Shadow Lands. Although Chris believes Lewis is a bit misrepresented in the movie.
